Eligibility Test

In this type of questions, you are given the necessary qualifications required to be fulfilled by a candidate for a contain vacancy in job/promotion facility, along with the bio-data of certain candidates who have applied for the same. You are then required to assess the candidate’s eligibility for potential and there by decide upon the course of action to be taken from among the given alternative.

Direction: Study the following information carefully to answer the questions given below :

Following criteria have been led down for admission to an anti-terrorist Defensive course of Indian Army.

The candidate must

A. have passed graduation with Science subjects (B.Sc.) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (Second class), For SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 5%.

B. have completed 19 years of age in case of females and 20 years of age in case of males on before 1 Jan. 2003.

C. Pay deposit of Rs. 25,000 along with the application from if the applicant has passed graduation in Second class. However, if the applicant has secured more than 75% marks at graduation, the deposit amount would be Rs. 15,000 and if the marks are above 60% but below 75%, the deposit amount will be Rs. 20,000. If the candidate is a son or daughter of the serving or ex-defence staff-member, the amount of deposit will be 50% of that applicable to others, keeping the merit criteria the same.

D. For SC/ST candidates the deposit amount is 20% of that applicable to non-staff relation candidate and the condition of marks for each slab described above in (C) in relaxed by 5%.

E. If a candidate fulfils the criteria at (A) and (B) but can pay at least 3/4th’s amount of applicable deposit, he/ she may be provisionally admitted.

F. If a candidate who is eligible under (A) and (B) criteria, can pay at least half of the applicable deposit, the case can be referred to the commander-in-chief.

G The candidates who is eligible under the criteria (A) and (B) but cannot pay even half of the applicable deposit cannot be admitted.

Based on the above criteria decide which of the following courses of action should be taken in case of the candidates whose description is provided in the following questions. Please note that you are not to assume any data other than those described. However, you may treat the candidate as ‘General Category’ candidate if his category is not explicitly mentioned as SC/ST. The information provided is as on 1.1.2003.

2. Divya, the daughter of a teacher, has passed her B.Sc. with 78% marks. She was born on 23 Sept. 1980. She can pay maximum of Rs. 8,000 as deposit.

3. Tarun, an M.Sc. with 65.5% marks, is a son of Businessman. His age is 22 years as on the stipulated date. He can pay Its. 25,000 as deposit.

4. Vimala, the daughter of an ex-employee of ABC Medical college, was born on 23 Oct. 1983, she has passed her B.Sc. with 58% marks. She can pay only Rs. 20,000 as deposit.

5. Sarat born on 23 Feb. 1979 has passed his B.Sc. with 63% marks. He is ready to pay a maximum of Rs. 11,000 as deposit. He belongs to ST category.

6. Rohit, the son of staff member of the Army medical college, was born on 7 Jan. 1982 and has passed his B.Sc. with 76% marks. He can pay the Rs. 20,000 as deposit.

7. Born on 30 June 1982, Sakshi, the daughter of professor in a medical college, has done her B.Sc. with 79% marks. She Can pay a maximum of Rs. 11,000 as deposits.

8. Cyrus, the son of an Army officer, was born on 27 Feb. 1979 and has passed his B.Sc. with 64% marks. He can pay maximum of Rs. 7,500. He belongs to ST category.

9. Tanya, the daughter of ex-employee of Indian Army was born on 1 April 1981. She passed her B.Sc. examination with 68% marks. She can remit Rs. 11,000 as deposit.

10. Rahul, the son of a staff member of the Indian Army, has passed his B.Sc. examination with 46% marks and M.Sc. examination with first rank (80% marks) as published in the newspaper on 13 April 2001. He can pay his Rs. 15,000 as deposit. The deposit slabs mentioned in (C) and (D) may be labelled as under:

Direction (1 to 8): Study the following information carefully to answer the questions given below: Following are the conditions for granting advance of Rs. 10 lakhs to the farmers for purchasing tractor by a Gramina Bank.

The farmer must

(i) have at least five acres of cultivable land.

(ii) be able to produce collateral of at least Rs. 8 lakhs.

(iii) not be more than 50 years old as on 1.12.2005.

(iv) not have any outstanding unpaid loan from the bank.

(v) be able to produce a recommendation letter from the panchayat Pradhan.

In case of a farmer who satisfies all other criteria except.

(A) at (i) above, but is able to cultivate more than one crop in each piece of land, the case is to be referred 10 chairmen of the bank;

(B) at (iv) above, but has fixed deposits of at least Rs. 4 lakhs with the bank, the case is to be referred to the General Manager of the Bank.

In each question below, detailed information of one farmer is given. You have to carefully study the information provided in each case and take one of the following courses of action based on the information and conditions given above. You are not to assume anything other than the information provided in each question. All these cases are given to you as on 1.12.2005. You have to indicate your decision by making answers to each question as follows:

2. Suresh Chauhan was born on 8th November, 1956. He has obtained a recommendation letter from the Panchayat Pradhan. He has four acres of cultivable land with two crops in each piece of land. He can pledge Rs. 8 lakhs as collateral. He has no outstanding loan from the bank.

3. Mahipal Rana was born on 8th March, 1956. He can produce a recommendation letter from the Panchayat Pradhan. He does not have any outstanding loan. He has a fixed deposit of Rs.. 5 lakhs in addition to his collateral of Rs. 8 lakhs. He has four acres of cultivable land with only one crop.

4. Vilas Deshmukh was born on 3rd February, 1956. He has six acres of cultivable land. He has submitted a recommendation letter issued by the Panchayat Pradhan. He can pledge collateral of more than Rs. 8 lakhs. He doesn’t have any unpaid loan from the bank.

5. Nishant Pathak was born on 14 August, 1958. He has three acres of cultivable land. He can produce a recommendation letter from the Panchayat Pradhan. He can give collateral of Rs. 9 lakhs and does not have any outstanding loan from the bank. He grows two crops in each piece of his land.

6. Rishi Thakur was born on 5th June, 1957. He has obtained a recommendation letter from the Panchayat Pradhan. He has eight acres of cultivable land and can pledge collateral of Rs. 8 lakhs in addition to his fixed deposit of Rs. 6 lakhs. He has an outstanding loan of Rs. 4 lakhs.

7. Kamal Sawant can produce a recommendation letter from the Panchayat Pradhan. He can produce collateral of Rs. 8 lakhs. He has out siding loan of Rs. 5 lakhs from the bank and also has fixed deposit of Rs. 3 lakhs with the bank. He was born on 8th May, 1957.

8. Vikram Tomar has seven acres of cultivated land. He has obtained a recommendation letter from the Panchayat Pradhan. He doesn’t have any unpaid loan from the bank. He grows two crops in his entire land. He can produce collateral of more than Rs. 6 lakhs. Directions (9 to 18) : Study the following information carefully to answer these questions. Following criteria for selection of computer professionals in an organisation : The candidate must (i) be a computer Engineer or MCA with first class having minimum 65% marks. (ii) have secured at least 50% marks in the selection test. (iii) have secured at least 40% marks in the interview. (iv) not be less than 21 years and not more than 30 years of age as on 1.10.2005.

A company has following Gratuity (G) and provident Fund (PF) rules:

1. An employee must have completed one year’s service to be eligible for either G or PF.

2. An employee resigning or retiring or retrenched after ten years’ service gets both G and PF.

For a recruitment process in an organization, the candidates need to possess the following qualifications criteria:
