A wheel of a motorbike has radius 35 cm. How many revolutions per minute must the wheel make so that the speed of the bike is 33 km/hr?

Circumference = \(\displaystyle \frac{{44}}{7}\times 35=220cm\)

Distance travelled in 1 minute = \(\displaystyle \frac{{33000}}{{60}}=550m\)

Required no. of revolutions = \(\displaystyle \frac{{550\times 100}}{{220}}=250\)

A car covers a certain distance in 3 hours at the speed of 124 kms./hr. What is the average speed of a truck which travels a distance of 120 kms less than the car in the same time?

(a) 88 kms./hr.

Distance covered by car in 3 hours = \(\displaystyle 124\times 3=372km\)

Distance covered by truck in 3 hours

= 372 – 120 = 252 km.

Average speed of truck = \(\displaystyle \frac{{252}}{8}=84km/hr\)

A truck covers a distance of 368 km at a certain speed in 8 hours. How much time would a car take at an average speed which is 18 km/hr more than that of the speed of the truck to cover a distance which is 16 km more than that travelled by the truck ?

Average speed of car = 46 + 18 = 64 km/hr

A 210 m long train takes 6 s to cross a man running at 9 km/h in a direction opposite to that of the train. What is the speed of the train? (in km/h)

V + 9 = 126
